One Small Bite at a Time

Food can create memories that will last a lifetime, not only in flavor, but also the moments they are created and shared. My dream is to be able to create these moments and memories by the experiences of my "foodie chic" lifestyle through displaying essential ingredients and stages to having success in culinary school, the tastes of local restaurants, and the sharing and creating of recipes. Similar to an amuse bouche to a meal, a dream starts small and slowly grows into extraordinary.

The BEST Chocolate Cake

I have tasted plenty of cake in my day and for me to really enjoy a cake it has to be rich but very moist where it will just melt in my mouth and this chocolate cake it exactly that. I use it for a variety of treats from the basic cake to a layered torte to even cake pops! Whenever a recipe of mine calls for chocolate cake this is the only chocolate cake recipe I use!

Ingredients
2 cups granulated sugar
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 eggs (room temperature)
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tbs 1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the pans necessary for the baked good produced.

Sift together all the dry ingredients. In the mixing bowl, mix together eggs, sugar, and oil. The add the sifted ingredients and milk alternating dry and wet. Always starting and ending with dry.

Baking times:

Sheet cake-20-25 minutes
One Cake-30-35 minutes
Layered Torte Cake-30-35 minutes
Jumbo Cupcakes-28-30 minutes
Cupcakes-20-25 minutes

This recipe is awesome and can be used for many, many different treats! I made a chocolate mousse torte which was a three layered cake filled with chocolate mousse, iced with chocolate buttercream, and garnished with chocolate shavings...just as an idea!

Enjoy!
